Mushkin memory

Postby [CS] Joab on Wed Nov 03, 2010 4:22 pm

So my less than 1 year old computer wouldn't boot up. I have Award BIOS and their beep codes aren't what I would call stellar, but since it was a constand series of beeps that seemed to indicate memory. I had a matched set of two sticks and one of them went bad. When I removed it the PC booted up just fine.

On Saturday I submitted a support ticket to Mushkin via their web site. On Monday I got an e-mail from them asking for proof of purchase. I printed the invoice from NewEgg, faxed it to Mushkin yesterday and today my claim was approved. As soon as they receive the bad stick from me they will ship out a replacement same day. And, since it was a matched set, if I want to send both sticks (including the good one) they will replace both. BTW, this memory has a lifetime warranty against failure.

I'm not happy that a stick of memory died in under a year but I'm pleased with Mushkin's prompt, customer-centered support. Hardware failures happen* and Mushkin has a good reputation as far as I know. Had their service stunk I wouldn't buy Mushkin again, but because it did not their name is still good with me.

* I don't include Hitachi's infamous "Death Star" hard drives because that entire line of products was suspect. Apart from that, these things happen.

Maybe you'd have fewer problems if you stopped buying stuff from Munchkins...

Scooby, I don't know why you insist on making fun of your relatives like that. They can't help it if you are a little taller than them. :nana: :scare: :puppy:

I prefer them beer battered, deep fried with a side of tartar.
